The Scenic Ride
Scenic Ride
The Scenic Ride was simply a tractor pulling three passenger cars. You could consider it the forerunner to today's Iron Horse Train Ride. The Scenic Ride was installed circa 1940 and removed after the 1955 season. The tractor followed a trail that took it from the midway and behind the Penny Arcade and Fun Parade buildings, next to the lift hill of the Cyclone (Screechin' Eagle) roller coaster and back to the midway. The ride was replaced in 1956 by the Speedway. The majority of the Speedway track follows the original Scenic Ride trail. [Photo credits: park archives]
