The original Dodgem car ride was located along the midway between the Stardust Gardens entrance and the Carousel. It consisted of 18 cars and was built around 1940. The ride was destroyed in May 1988 when an accidental fire started in the Carousel building and spread to the Dodgem ride. In 1990, a new bumper car ride was purchased from Barbieri and installed just inside the main entrance. It was renamed the Demolition Derby. In 2002, the ride was removed and the roof structure was moved across the midway to cover the Chance carousel. [Photo credit: Scott Fowler]
