LeSourdsville Lake From the Heavens

overview of midway
The red colored buildings in the middle of the trees comprises Logger's Run (formerly Tombstone Territory). The small body of water immediately on the right is a portion of the park's lake. The horizontal body of river running along the bottom of the picture is the Great Miami River. The houses located in the upper right corner are located on Lakeview Drive, Anne Road, Ridge Court and Dazey Drive. These homes were built by LeSourdsville Lake founder Edgar Streifthau beginning in the late 1930s. Anne Drive and Lindy Drive (not pictured) were named after Edgar's children. Dazey Drive was named after the Don Dazey family. [Photo credit: ©2000 by Robert Curtis]
Most of us view the park from the opposite direction from State Route 4 (located along the top of the picture. The blue structure in the middle of the picture is the Serpent roller coaster. The large white building just left of the Serpent is the former home of the Indy 500 racer ride. Immediately to the top of the white building is the gift shop and former restaurant and represents the last "original" park building that was built in 1926. The Screechin' Eagle roller coaster is located in the lower right corner. The outline of the Ferris Wheel is visible in the middle of the picture. [Photo credit: ©2000 by Robert Curtis]

This view looking north shows the grounds of Fantasy Farm in the upper left corner. [Photo credit: ©2000 by Robert Curtis] This view provides a close-up of the midway. The structures that look like they have red sides on them are actually picnic shelters. The red appearance is caused by the large number of red stained picnic tables stored in the shelters during the winter months. The steeple style building is the park's food court built in 1990 after the devastating fire that destroyed the Stardust Gardens ballroom and a food and games complex. entrance and midway

This view of the main entrance area gives you an idea how large the old Stardust Gardens area was. The structure began in the lower right corner just to the right of the main gate (where the triangle roof building stands. It continued on down the midway and ended where the long brown building stands along the railroad tracks on the left side of the picture. Ironically, the carousel and Dodgem' car ride was located just to the left of the long brown building and was destroyed in another fire in May 1988. The long brown building serves as the park's administrative offices. [Photo credit: ©2000 by Robert Curtis] This is another close-up of the midway area including the turn of the Screechin' Eagle. The peninsula of land in the middle of the picture was extended into the lake to facilitate rescues if the Skyride stopped operating. The large body of water on the left is the Great Miami River. Yes, this is a part of Americana....it's actually a closer look at Logger's Run. On the far left is the Great Miami River and on the far right are railroad tracks. The Raging Thunder log flume is located in the lower left corner. Immediately to the right is part of the saloon and attached buildings. The large brown structure is used as a storage facility but was once used as the Hamilton-Fairfield Jaycees Haunted House for a couple years in the mid 1990s. Across from the storage building is the Scrambler and the Rock-O-Plane. Logger's Run is also home to the Rock-O-Planes, the Scrambler and the Liberty Train, in addition to an arcade, a food outlet, the Saloon and Coffelt's Candy Shop.
